For one brief moment,
I felt the love of another.
For one brief second,
I thought the world had given me the gift of a lifetime.
As I looked into her green eyes,
I saw the soul of love.
She was warm and kind.
Her smile melted the frost from around my heart.
The cold winds that kept us from finding our path stopped.
She prayed with angels.
She did not care about my past.
Her healing hands were tender, as she placed the ointment of forgiveness on my wounds.
The hurts healed and the scars faded.
The candles she lit burned brightly.
Each flame brought light to a dark and dim world.
The torches of her love guided me from where we came.
My soul found a place of happiness.
For one brief moment,
I felt the love of another.
For one brief moment,
I felt the gift of another at my side.
When I awoke, the illusion was gone.
I saw the world from my window,
It had not changed.
The grass was still green, and the flowers still bloomed.
Father sun brought nourishment and warmth.
I know now the journey home is near.
It felt good to know that for one brief moment,
She loved herself and she loved me.
